Italian Brand Alliance in Bordeaux

For the first time some of the most important Italian wine brands join together in one single stand at the next edition of Vinexpo in Bordeaux (June 16-20). On this occasion thousands of buyers from all over the world, especially the Americas and Asia, come together.

There are six Italian wineries which are already active on markets under the name of “Italia del Vino Consorzio”: Santa Margherita, Gruppo Italiano Vini, Casa Vinicola Sartori, Ferrari F.lli Lunelli, Marchesi di Barolo and Drei Donà.

Within the stand there is a wine bar where the wines made by all the twelve wineries of the Consorzio (find the list below) can be tasted. The wine list provides an overview of all the Italian wine production, from Piedmont to Sicily.

The wineries of the Consorzio, on the whole, account for 10% of the Italian wine export, with more than 400 million euros per year sold in tens of countries worldwide.

This shared stand gives evidence of the strong export-oriented trends of Italian wine and it represents a real showcase through which professionals, in just one single place, can take an overall look to the Italian excellences. That is the perspective that involves also the various regions represented: «Our country’s richness is the envy of the world and it attracts millions of tourists. The wine and food sector is an important economic driving force and represents a great lever in helping our country emerge more rapidly from this tough moment – says Ettore Nicoletto, the President of the Italia del Vino Consorzio – In order to challenge the international competition we need to make a system that gathers energies and instruments among the most important brands active on foreign markets. Italia del Vino Consorzio have started doing this since 2009 with important results, some of which – as the economic Observatory with the Unione italiana Vini – are at disposal for the entire sector. Being all together at Vinexpo, in France, a country where companies have always teamed up and has an important wine tradition, is a strong signal, a proof of a real step change».

Italia del Vino is a private consortium that since 2009 has put together twelve companies among the most important in the Italian wine sector, all widely active on all markets worldwide.
