Rutherford Appellation Wineries will celebrate the holiday season with an extended “Toast to Rutherford” Passport Weekend, November 30th through December 2nd. With the 3-day weekend in mind, two evening events have been added for those who purchase special VIP Passports.
In addition to the daytime wine and food tastings, VIP Passport holders may begin the weekend with a Friday night Magnum Party at Mumm Napa. Saturday evening, VIP Passport holders will be invited to attend a winemaker dinner at Alpha Omega Winery featuring vintner and Rutherford Dust Society President Robin Baggett’s “almost famous” BBQ and Rutherford vintners pouring their wines.
On Saturday and Sunday all Passport holders will be offered unique wine tastings and “toasted” fare foods to pair with them (think crostini, toasted chestnuts, French toast) by 19 Rutherford wineries, some of which are normally open by appointment only. Each winery will offer a special tasting experience such as barrel samples, limited edition wines, or tastings with the winemaker, all accompanied by toasted fare. Discounts and special pricing will continue through the end of the year.
Participating wineries include Alpha Omega, Beaulieu Vineyard, Conn Creek Winery, Elizabeth Spencer Wines, Foley Johnson, Frank Family Vineyards, Grgich Hills Estate, Hewitt Vineyard, Honig Vineyard & Winery, Meander, Mumm Napa, Peju, Piña Napa Valley, Provenance Vineyards, Raymond Vineyards & Cellar, Round Pond Estate, St. Supery Vineyards & Winery, Sullivan Vineyards, Tres Sabores, and William Harrison Vineyards & Winery.
“We are excited to expand the Rutherford Passport Weekend to three days,” announced Regina Weinstein, Director of Marketing and Retail for Honig Vineyard & Winery. “The holiday season is a special time of the year, and our Toast to Rutherford will make this season even more festive for wine enthusiasts.”
Standard 2-day Passports are $75; Sunday-only Passports are $60. VIP upgrades may be purchased for an additional $150. As always, profits from the event will be donated to a local charity.
