Learn the Art of Cheese Making at Alpine Lakes Cheese, now – October
Alpine Lakes’ cheese maker, Catha Link is offering beginning to intermediate cheesemaking classes. Students learn each step of cheesemaking beginning with fresh sheep milk followed by the process of managing temperatures, humidity and cultures. Catha makes a mild-flavored Mountain Tomme, Creamy Blue and Camembert, the classic soft-ripened sheep’s cheese, all which are offered up for sampling during the class. Classes are hands-on with a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 8 and are available by appointment. Flameworking Class at West Coast Glass Studios, now –2013
Owner, John Craddick, transforms raw materials into glass as he demonstrates flameworking or lampworking. In the studio, John and his team create glass art, provide flameworking lessons and working demos for entertainment. West Coast Glass will start to offer flameworking classes upon appointment for guests and pyromaniacs alike. Classes are available by appointment and can be made by calling 509-301-7344. Yappy Hour at Chateau Fair Le Pont Winery – Every Sunday in 2012

Held annually on the first weekend in October at Eastmont Community Park, the Wings & Wheels Festival celebrates the first nonstop transpacific flight from Misawa, Japan to East Wenatchee. Festivities include a classic car show, show & shine, airport fly-in, free kids activities, vendors, entertainment, great food, a swap meet and a carnival. New this year at the Wenatchee Wine Country at Eastmont County Park from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, guests can enjoy 12 tastes of wine in a souvenir glass for $20. This annual event features a showcase of holiday trees elaborately decorated by local volunteers and companies. Guests stroll through the festival to view some of the most beautiful and elaborate holiday displays, each large tree has a different theme and holiday style. Following the showcase each tree is sold at auction with proceeds benefitting the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee.
