2007 Swanson Alexis Cab – Review

Swanson Vineyards, located in Napa California, produces a very wide variety of wines – from red to white to pink to sweet, they got you covered. Additionally, they also have a “House Wine” selection which starts off around the $25 mark. This cab, however, weighs in at $75.

Nose: Black cherries, pepper, tobacco, leather, dark chocolate and plums.

Taste: Nice layers of flavors going on here – red cherries, black cherries, peppercorns, leather, tobacco and chocolate. The tannins still come across as very “youthful” – the acids should allow this cab to lay down, easily, another 10 years or so. Good cellar potential and drinks pretty good right now as it is. However, it wouldn’t be my first choice at $75 – for that price, there are other California cabs out there which are drinking better. Overall, this is a very solid “Napa Cab” that’s not too heavy on the fruit . I’d love to try this again in 3-5 years.
