I love the name of this wine as – to me – it reflects the fun and somewhat non-conformist attitude of Sparky and Sarah. It’s a $90 Shiraz that’s ready to go Chuck Norris on your palate and karate-chop to shreds any kind of heavily sauced / bbq meats you can throw its way.
Technical Data:
- The grapes were grown on the Gateway vineyard in McLaren Vale.
- Barrel fermented and matured in 97% new and 3% one year old American oak.
- Alcohol: 16%
- Residual sugar: 3.8g/L
- pH: 3.63
- Price: $90
Nose: Black cherry soda combined with blackberry, blueberry and spice. Also get nice notes of medicine cabinet, sugarplums, and the aromas of a lockerroom.
Taste: Monsterous black-fruit that bring on a full assult ot the palate. This is a thick, sumptious shiraz that makes your tongue its personal slave – not for the faint of heart whatsowever. This is a big, bold, new-world style wine that pairs in a sublime fashion with barbeque and southwest-inspired spicey foods.
Personally, this isn’t really my “normal style” and I’m totally okay with that – I tend to prefer a more old-world style of wine but I like this one because it’s such a massive swing of the pendulum in the other direction. I can see how so many people would love and adore this wine.
