Nose: Nice notes of citrus, sea shells, slight hint of vanilla, minerals, tulips and lemon juice.

Taste: Beautiful balance of acidity, fruit and mouthfeel – this is a very clean-tasting Chardonnay with brilliant acidity. Extremely food friend and finishes extremely well. Notes of citrus, pine nuts, river rock and grapefruit with white pepper.

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon – W.E.P. Rating: 90%

  • Blend:Cabernet Sauvignon 85% Merlot 15%
  • Production: 70,000 cases of 12
  • Grape source: 99% Perdeberg hills area in Paarl, 1% Stellenbosch
  • Alc 14.0%
  • RS 4.0 g/l
  • TA 5.8 g/l
  • pH 3.64
  • Price: $10

Nose: Prunes, cherries, raspberry, forest floor, mushrooms and blueberry compot.

Taste: Cinnamon-spiced cherries, charcoal, shoe polish, peppercorns, and a sort of red-sand kind of componnent. This is a cab that would be hard to blind-taste and know it’s a cab – it’s not at all like ones I’ve had from the USA or Europe – I guess you could say it expresses its terroir. Decent mid palate and finish – would be a good cab with African or latin foods.
