2011 Auction of WA Picnic and Gala – Pictorial

I can think of no greater charity events that takes place in Washington State than those that the Auction of WA wines puts on – it’s beneficiary is Children’s Hospital in Seattle and goes to aid for uncompensated care of kids. Two key events, during the summer take place on the lawn of Chateau Ste. Michelle – the barrel picnic auction as well as the Gala dinner.

Between both events, the total amount raised was a whopping $1.5 Million!

The picnic is an informal time when folks can get up close and personal with staff from the winery as well as make bids on auction items to help benefit kids. This is easily one of my favorite events of the year because it’s informal, has good food and the overall vibe of everyone at the picnic is that of letting their hair down and having fun.

THE GALA:

The Gala event is a formal, sit-down dinner and auction – each table has a sponsoring wine and winemaker there to talk about the wine – additionally there is life music and presentations during the dinner. At $500 per ticket, this dinner brings out the more financially affluent and really does a good job in raising money for the cause.
