Domaine Carneros has established itself as one of California’s top producers of sparkling wine, however it also makes (as we found out) really tasty Pinot Noir as well.
Its chateau was completed in 1989 and is built to be a true-to-life one you’d see gracing the hills of France. It’s focus is bubbly, but clearly they have more than one kung-fu trick on their sleeve.

Nose: Bacon fat, wet cedar, dried cranberries, spice, wet gym socks, a clothes hamper filled with underwear, tar bubble and a really nice round of cigar smoke – LOVE this NOSE!
Taste: Excellent balance of cranberry, raspberry, cedar smoke and mouthfeel. This is a very elegant Pinot to me and easily one of the better ones I’ve had in this price category. It has a fantastic mid palate transition and a finish that lasts for weeks.
