Red Mountain Wine and Picazo

So I hopped in the 2010 LaCrosse last week to head down to a wine-industry dinner at Picazo Restaurant in Prosser WA – roughly 25 minutes from the home I’m staying in. On most Monday nights, you’ll find this restaurant closed, however, this night was different thanks to a Facebook conversation between Cyndy Ott of Fidelitas Winery and Cheryl Cardwell in which the owner of Picazo noticed and made them a deal which was basically if they could get enough folks interested, that he’d do a special dinner.

Turns out that Chef/Owner had paella on the brain and thankfully he did because it had been forever since I was able to pound down some of that action.

The attendee’s were invited to bring a bottle of any Red Mountain wine in a brown paper bag so the rest of the folks there could have some fun blind tasting thru them. I happened to sniff out a Charlie Hoppes wine – the Cooper Winery Cab – I can smell one of his wines a mile away and that’s a good thing in this regard because his wines kick ass.
