2. June 19 &20 – Texas Reds Festival

Come to Bryan, Texas and enjoy various wines at the Texas Reds Festival. A free shuttle will be available to take festival attendees to Messina Hof Winery and Resort who will be opening their grounds for tours on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The shuttle will run every 30 minutes throughout the day to the winery.

Wine tastings will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the HEB Wine Cellar tent located on Main Street.

5. Messina Hof Wine Appreciation Class- Structure and composition of grapes Messina Hof Winery and Resort to Host Structure and Composition of Grapes Wine Appreciation Class at the Wine Bar on June 28

Those who attend will discover the composition of each layer inside the grape as well as the health benefits produced by eating them. We’ve all heard of how a glass of red wine is good for the heart, but have you ever heard that grapes my inhibit cancer and Alzheimer’s disease as well? It will also come as a surprise how many products use grapes and grape seed oil as ingredients. During this one-hour class, guests will also enjoy a component wine tasting to learn the effects of acid, tannin, and sugar.

Wines:

• Unoaked Chardonnay: harvested from the northern most vineyards. The wine has developed a clean, crisp, aromatic flavor. It is wonderfully balanced with fresh, tropical fruit. Best served chilled at 45 degrees F.

• Texas Hold’em Grand Reserve Red: a rich blend of Merlot and Shiraz. Aged in oak for 12 months, the wine has a wonderful vanilla spice and cherry flavor. Best served at 65 degrees F.
