WHAT: Messina Hof Winery and Resort, the fastest growing award-winning winery in Texas, will host a “Fruit, Dessert and Specialty Wine Production” seminar presented by Grayson County College (GCC) Enology Outreach Program on June 1, 2009, announced Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo, co-founders of Messina Hof.
A new dimension was added to the T. V. Munson Viticulture Enology Program this year through state funds provided by the Texas Department of Agriculture. The Munson Program at GCC was awarded funds to provide training seminars in enology at sites across the State of Texas.
On June 1, guests will learn style guidelines and production techniques for fruit, dessert, and other specialty wines – including fortified wines. Speakers will include Domenic Carisetti, a winemaker and winemaking Instructor, with over thirty years experience as a professional in the industry. He was trained at the University of California at Davis and is the former winemaker for Taylor Wines in Medina, NY. GCC will also introduce Dr. Bobby Smith, who retains ownership of La Buena Vida Vineyards in Springtown, Texas, one of the state’s oldest vineyards and wineries.
Guests will also enjoy lunch prepared by Messina Hof’s Vintage House Restaurant culinary expert team, and will have the opportunity to mingle with Paul Bonarrigo and Merrill Bonarrigo during the day’s festivities.
