Washington State gets new AVA

The Snipes Mountain AVA is the latest one to spring up in Washington State, bringing the total amount to 10 state-wide AVAs. This is a 4,145-acre area withing the Yakima Valley AVA and within the Columbia Valley AVA – it has 535 acres planted so far and 25-grape varities. Some of the note-worthy vineyards included in this AVA are Harrison Hill and Upland – some of the state”s oldest Cab grapes are in Harrison.
